Wiyaala recorded “Go Go Black Stars..GOAL!” for the Black Stars’ 2014 World Cup campaign in Brazil. The song features tribal drums, big stadium choruses, three Ghanaian languages and English. The song was inspired by a chance remark from SuperSport’s anchorman Yaw Ampofo Ankrah after he saw Wiyaala sing at a fashion show in Accra and encouraged her to write a song for the Black Stars.
Wiyaala, aka “The Young Lioness of Africa”, from Wa is no mean footballer herself, having trained with the Upper West Girls team, she was much feared for her fierce tackling and ball-winning abilities in the midfield.
